Hm, true... Will label it next time... Continuing my political argument I believe that all should know the implications of the foreign policy of the US government. Everyday products are purchased which originate from the USA or come into contact with US corporations. As the US stands as the only superpower in the world with its mighty arsenal of nuclear warheads, biological and chemical weapons the rest of the globe needs to be informed of the atrosities that result from their policies. Only then can we, the rest of the world, take a sound and clear position on wether we want to subsidise such actions through the purchasing their goods. It is quite ironic that in the land of the free bribery and corruption is punishable by law. However the rule does not apply to the top management: the president. To-be-presidents receive funding from large organsiations and corporations in order for them to win the election. Yet this does not come for free. The president commits himself/herself (soon hopefully) to repaying the corporations in one way or another. Recent examples of this has been Bushes engagement within Enron, Tyco, Halliburton etc. So, the only measure which we, the outside world of the old Europe, can manage to influence the developments within the US is through economic sanctions not installed by our governments but by each and every individual that resides within. In defence of the link i would like to say that Yes it is a shocker but on the other hand some of us still quietly support the actions through the purchase of goods and products. Would you (general sence) purchase products from Lybia? Iran? Tchechnia (Spelling?). Most will answer no yet a majority of us still purchase organges from occupied palestine or penuts from florida, those cool nike shoes or some new levis jeans. How about a Big mac or some coca cola. Hell, give me a marlborough even... PS. for the chefs out there: Mer belongs to Coca cola now... ... Link ... Comment |
