Happened on Saturday, but some of you may not have noticed...

Microsoft's $5 million fund for rewarding informants for leads on virus attacks has snagged its first success with the arrest of a man in Germany who has confessed to the release of the Sasser worm, the software giant said Saturday.

we can still expect a lot more of these types of viruses in the near future as they have become more common in the last year...

is there any connnection between these viruses and the leaked uncomplete w2k source? i read somewhere that it actually contained some vital info about the os...

I've heard that speculation too, but not from anyone I would consider authoritative.

I think it's a relatively small group of people having virus 'battles' such as NetSky and Bagle. Also apparently the market for drones is groing and there are some very sceptical marketing companies buying drones to act as mail relays... Where there's a market, there's a product... Take away the demand and suddenly the product is no longer worth producing...

I saw a small documentry on the German guy who made the Sasser virus. It was one of his friends that turn him in for the 250k....... Then they had an interview with Kim Schmit about it and he said that its all M$ fault for designing the software so badly
