The problem is more extremists than what direction they are facing. In my opinion the extreme left is just as bad as the extreme right.

Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, I just draw the line when people take the law into their own hands and (as is the case on 1st May) cause so much pointless destruction of things that people have spent a long time working on. Just because you hold a grudge against global companies, it doesn't mean the local people who work hard for their living must suffer in lieu.

I do not agree with the extremists either, and I think it is stupid what they are doing. On the other side I must admit that I had some experience myself which made me understand why it sometimes gets to it. For example at the WEFdemonstration in Bern a year ago, where people where litteraly emprisoned for one day and when they finally were alloud to have a peaceful demonstration it took 5 minutes and the police started with their watercanons. And I swear, before that moment there had been no destruction. But to get to the point, what I wanted to say was that it is sad that people today directly connect 1 of May with leftwing kids running around detroying half of the cities. It is a pitty, since first of may is a great day with an interesting history!

A Global market is the only way forward.. You need to pass off manufacturing jobs to developing economies otherwise the gap between "The Western world" and the rest will continue to grow. Now we have even come to far as in middle class jobs such as coding can be out sourced and I think its great! Why should I have to pay more for non-durable products.

There are ways to demonstrate without violnce, but the Block and the Linksautonomeand and not able to do so AND no one can giv me that crap " The police started". They are doing their jobs. If the Demonstration was legit, by doing the correct paper work. The police wouldn't do anything..until they would get hit in the head by a empyt beer bottle some fuckhead unemployeed punk through cause he was bored!

A global market on western terms? Yes that will indeed help the rest of the population having the same habits as the western industry civilisation, which they have all more or less got thanks to colonialisation, where european sailed of to exploit raw materials and thought helping the uncivilised by bringing their culture. Ethnocentrism or better Eurocentrism. And now a days we should rather talk about an american colonisation. By 2050 earthoil will start to become more or less rare and if we do not have a solution until then, well then the gap will get bigger anyway because you can all guess on your own who will have the oil and who will keep it for them selves. And the country in the world who is most interested in environment (not!) are already intelligent enough to have sent out their forces to the neighbourhood of the golden sources.

I like going on Holiday there, I would love to work there ( for a short while), I like the people there... however the Bush administration is a disaster. The Iraq war is a fucked up inocent people are being killed for now reason.

Globalisation is neccessary for the economy. Nothing to do with "Ethnocentrism or Eurocentrism" but rather maximizing utilization and profit, yes i'm that shallow , I think that is fair.

What I do not agree with is child labour and EXTREMLY low pay in developing economies. I know its in contradictory to what i said before, and the line is very thin. Globalisation works great until its exploited ( as it is at the moment in some areas), but ask your self would that person earning $2 a day be happier earning $0... probably not. Companies should give "Slave Workers" more money!
