I want to find the chap who wrote the line: this programme has performed an illegal operation and will terminate immediately. WTF? Illegal operation? has it killed someone? did it drive without a driverslicence? Stupid idot of a programmer nerd who put in this illegal stuff in. Terminate immediately? tststs. Unfortunately illegal has actually been updated in most dictionaries to allow it to be used for computing terms. The definition is something along the lines of: A violation of an architecture rule that an implementation is required to report. Terminate immediately? What's wrong with that? Unexpected error is actually a very valid statement. Expected errors get trapped by any decent program and dealt with. Ones that are unexpected are processed by the default trap which will normally provide you with your Unexpected Error message since the program could not be designed to deal with it. I've always loved the Keyboard F1 message! Second only to my all time favourite when a program produced an error message where the title was Error and the body of the message simply read Reason: France. ... Link

the terminate message is however a little missleading. If you get it in IE then you can still go on happilly sufing as long as you don't hit the ok button. So the message is wrong... why do you have to confirm it anyhow. Its not like its asking you for something... its telling you it will terminate upon which you click OK??? For my little brain it doesn't make sence. PS. Bastard will immediately teminate the sewage storage system as it has reached an illegal limit. OK CANCEL ... Link ... Comment |
