Unfortunately illegal has actually been updated in most dictionaries to allow it to be used for computing terms. The definition is something along the lines of: A violation of an architecture rule that an implementation is required to report.

Terminate immediately? What's wrong with that?

Unexpected error is actually a very valid statement. Expected errors get trapped by any decent program and dealt with. Ones that are unexpected are processed by the default trap which will normally provide you with your Unexpected Error message since the program could not be designed to deal with it.

I've always loved the Keyboard F1 message! Second only to my all time favourite when a program produced an error message where the title was Error and the body of the message simply read Reason: France.
