To all the Swedes reading this...

A friend of mine is heading over to Stockholm for three years. He has been provided with four possible places to live, with different pros and cons to each.

If any of you know Stockholm well enough, have a quick look at this map and tell me which place you would rather live and why. You can't beat local knowledge!

my order would be...

3 - söder-- nothing beats it, really!!! this is where i hang out 99% or the time when i am in sthlm.. that's close to where my sis will move in.. hmm -- anyway..

2 - kungsholmen.. is getting trendy recently and is also a good choice..

1 - vasastaden... can't really recommend this..

4 - östermalm - want to live close to dr. albans recording studio move here.. although it's not a bad location i wouldn't like to live right here.. (also lots of traffic on that main street!)

i can give you more details later on.. am just busy at the moment

The way I see it, it all depends what he is looking for. We had a place in östermalm, the appartments beautiful and are very close to the center of town, but its not a lot of fun, a very quite area of town and as Br0aky just said a lot of traffic on the big roads.

On Söder you just have to watch out where in Söder you live. There is some really nice places and some really shity places. When I was wee little boy only the enemployeed lived in Söder, but things have changed... I agree with Br0aky... Söder for value for Money and chill factor

does your friend like kaufleuten? in that case move to östermalm.. since it close to all the similar clubs.. like "sture companiet", "o-baren", "halv trappa" and "berns".. (this area also has a few nice places.... "chelsons", "oXid", "the lab", etc)

if he is more of a spontanious person.. move to söder.. here you have "bonden", "kvarnen" (now with an added dancefloor!), "orangus tangus" (also called: snaps), "WC", "indira" (cheap beer and amazing indian food), and kebab kungen (the best and cheapest falaffel and kebab in stockholm!!) etc...

the unemployed people that chris was talking about are called students today (that's what they used to be as well), most students that live in the city center live there.....

most importantly.. look at all the flats first.. and make sure that the place you get suits you .. and having the bank etc close to you is never wrong, as well as a T sign for the underground or bus stop. Also check what kind of internet connection is available or can be available at the different spots... bandwidth is cheap in sweden, but it depends a lot on where you live! A lot of things can also be done over the web...

anyone else that wants to move to stockholm can checkout www.bostaddirekt.se to quickly find an appartment in stockholm!
