http://www.redbullairrace.com/ The Red Bull Air Race must be the fastest flying race there is. The pilots who take part have to navigate their aircraft as quickly as possible between the pairs of giant, air-filled pylons lining the aerial racetrack. In doing so, they reach speeds of up to 400 kph, while flying just a few feet off the ground. Any mistakes they make result in the addition of penalty seconds or can lead to their disqualification. The demands made of both pilot and machine are exacting indeed – especially with forces in the order of 10G at work. Not surprisingly, therefore, only the very best pilots have what it takes – including the necessary stamina – to hold their own against both the clock and their competitors. The Red Bull Air Race teams descend on this Alpine venue for the first time. The event certainly promises to be as thrilling as it is spectacular. ... Comment |
