OK, after looking at the sites my vote is against using these scripts.

The web was made to be accessible from multiple programs and these kind of guerilla tactics are no better than what MS is so often accused of. This is basically paying people off to use an open source project. The whole point of Firefox in my opinion is that people should want to switch rather than be paid to.

Personally I used to use FF but then got bored of some of the annoying features (specifically how bloated it is at the moment) and switched back to IE. But that doesn't mean I feel I should coerce other people to switch to any other browser.

if someone can summarize how blank will be crippled from IE (i am only allowed to use IE at work) or other browsers when accessing it with this then plz let me know.

if we don't go for it; who would be willing to donate some cash, lets say 10 bucks standard for a video server?

people who donate will ofcourse have their login / upload functionality to this server.

I don't understand the need to donate for a server...

I currently have plenty of free space and bandwidth. Potentially that could change if I start hosting very popular large videos, but we can always try and check the stats...

Video server... OK... why can't we use trackers for that? Any <10mb video you want to share, just stick it on gmail ...

Keep blank free from unneccassary buttons ... plus I think it's shit if you switch from IE to FF just because you don't like MicroSoft. There have been many browsers out there before FF. You should change if you think it's the better product... Simple

problem with trackers would be that they only live as long as people seed.. unless we have our own..

For the record I have no problem with external (ie Stef's) sites/pages using google ads or other revenue generating tools - just not blank itself.

It also seems almost rude to try generating revenue from something we were effectively given for free! It might even be against T&C for all I know...
