can someone call cablecom and ask them if they will cooperate with ifpi? i know that the swedish broadband providers choose not to.. gear up with peer guardian 2 and TOR and I would think you're somewhat in the clear, unless cablecom cooperates with them. is instant messaging allowed? isn't it considered spam? and i thought the firewall would block these messages out anyway.. ;-) silly silly. ... Here is how it works: Called GGAweb who said that they do not give out the details behind IP addresses. If they would they would breach data protection agreement. HOWEVER... if a court tells them to give out the data then they will do so. So as long as you use tor&privoxy your fine as they can only spot the exit node and not the chain. (make sure its working though by checking your "external" ip address which can be done here http://www.whatismyip.com/ ). Tor is however quite slow as it uses public key encryption together with the rerouting of the connection. I hope that soon a new version will come out which is faster. They could base it on torrent i.e. that you must have a tor server installed if you want to surf anonymously: on a feed&seed basis. Would make the rerouting part faster but the encryption part would still be slow. Similarly the tor could also seed the information through different chains in the system instead of the singular connection of today (but this would be a tricky thing to accomplish if not outright impossible). Another idea could be to develop a filesharing system which is based on the tor network... i.e. that you would need to go to 20 or so ip addresses before you find the right one... This could be a quite an interesting option as the time and effort it would take for the "Righteous protectors of the audible world" would be far too costly to pursue. Add a little "no ip logging" to that and it would be impossible for them to figure it out. ... Link ... Comment |
