mine works faster than on the mini.. even though i haven't installed patched drivers yet for the ati x300 card.. bluetooth works. what doesn't properly work is : widescreen resolutions (workarounds in constant progress) apparently final cut pro works 30% faster than on a real mac! i will install it tonight. ... i think you should come over and try it out.. but I know you will still be much happier with the PB.. and apple will probably do everything in their power to make future OSX versions not workable on standard PC's .. the reason it works on my laptop is because it has the (almost) identical chipset as the apple developer machine. (it's not the only reason why i bought it.. trust me, but it's still a plus) cc: feel free to come over and try it out! it's still a butt ugly laptop though..l wish i could find an old powerbook case to put the components into =) don't forget osx86 is still under development, there are still a lot of things that i am sure DONT WORK. for me everything that i need for now works.. tomato, vlc (but needs x300 driver), soulseekX, firefox, adium, photoshop cs2, macromedia suite, etc. a bunch of the ppc progs can also be run through rosetta. have a look at this page for small apps that you can get: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/X86_software what i'll do in the end is buy an intel powerbook and dualboot it with winXP.. ;-P ... i'd love to give it a try! but i guess you're right, i'll stick to the sticky pb's from the apple farmers. to be honest, i don't really care if it's butt ugly or not anymore.. i'm starting to like the toy-like goofy homeuser-style plastic PersonalComputer.. as long as it runs fast.. and i don't have the time and money until the prices from the g5-pb's start to drop.. and all this dual-booting double-os triple-chip is much too much for me i think.. ;o) ... you don't have to run windows on a dell ;-) you can boot osx natively and it's easier to install like that.. i will be at your side if you decide to do something drastic.. but please keep in mind what i said.. ;-) please give me a list of programs that you need to use with OSX so I can check if they even run in x86 mode.. there is a HCL list on www.osx86project.org website which lists a lot of intel computer models and how well it runs on them.. your best bet for right now is a 915G chipset motherboard with a GMA900 graphics processor... that will do the job.. but read this first: http://www.osx86project.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=47&Itemid=2 <<<--- and the comments in the forum afterwards.. compability with osx86: full systems (laptops etc): components: my old p4 2.4ghz should run it pretty damn well if anyone is intrested in buying it ;-) a footnote is that it also sounds like a plane.. it's going on ricardo soon.. ...
