Search giant Google will open a R&D centre in Zurich, Switzerland to tap into European know-how, company vice-president of engineering Urs Hölzle told Swiss newspaper Neue Zurcher Zeitung, Wednesday (Jan 28).

Apple's much-anticipated iTunes advertisement which was due to be shown for the first time at this weekend's Super Bowl has leaked onto the Internet.
Three websites have the ad, which stars 16 teenagers who have been sued by the Recording Industry Association of America for the unauthorised sharing of music files. They are accompanied by Green Day's version of The Clash's I Fought the Law.
The ad promotes Apple's deal with Pepsi, which will see 100 million iTuens Music Store songs given away with soft drinks.

A consortium of consumer electronics manufacturers next week will unveil a format for memory cards that will be smaller than Secure Digital (SD) cards, which are the size of postage stamps. The cards will connect to computers and other devices through a universal serial bus connector.
