you can't use swiss standards. average income in the states is somewhere around 27000 USD... Food expenditure is thus roughly 20% of your salary...

but my life is boring and i like complaining. especially if its to do with americans.

also, i still maintain, milord, that food here is proportionally more expensive - in america, if you are poor you live off kraft macaroni. even that costs so much here (i have been generous and not added to cost of the train ticket to küsnacht) you couldn't live off it at 20% of your salary. cheapest option...
