Two teenaged Geneva residents had their driving licenses seized after a breakneck car race on the motorway from Montreux to Lausanne. The 18 and 19-year-olds decided to race each other home shortly after 7:30pm Sunday, according to Vaud cantonal police. The teenagers got behind the wheels of their respective cars – a Porsche and an M3 model BMW – and sped along the A-9 motorway. Officers said the young men reached speeds of over 200 km/h during the informal rally. The motorists weaved their way through the traffic, often illegally overtaking vehicles on the right. Police described the young men's behaviour as "detestable." The Porsche driver lost control of his car near the Villars-Ste-Croix interchange. The powerful vehicle skidded off the road and came to rest at the bottom of an embankment. The motorist and his passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash. The BMW driver – following close behind – stopped to check on his friend. Police seized the pair's driving licenses on the spot. ... Comment
