01 area code is changing to 044

The Zurich area code 01 will be replaced by 044 by March 2007.
From March 1st 2004 it will be possible to use the area codes 01 and 044 in parallel. This "double numbering" is guaranteed until March 2007, at which time 01 will no longer be valid.

For example:
From 1 March 2004, the number 01 765 43 21 can also be called by dialing 044 765 43 21. If calling from abroad, the number +41 1 765 43 21 can also be called by dialing +41 44 765 43 21.
