Can you change the upload speed?

no

Err...That would completely defeat one of the primary features of BitTorrent - forced sharing (the more you upload the faster you can download)...

Well the problem that I have is that the upload speed is too high so my download speed REALLY drops. 40kb/s Up and 10kb/s down. :-( So I clip the upload speed at 30kb/s. Wouldn't you too?

definitely, if I had a choice. But to the best of my knowledge, BitTorrent is designed to limit your download speed to a distinct ratio with your possible upload speed (thereby forcing people to share the torrents they are downloading). I could be wrong though, to be honest I never really investigated it past just reading about it...

Thanks for that, I'll have a look later on tonight. Note the tip at the bottom of that screen though... Exactly what I said above.

that's bullshit 1 upload 10 download that's how it is.

Its how the tracker is set up. Some trackers are set up to ratio shared / Speed share and some are just LEECH.... still I think the reason why BT is working better then a lot of P2P is that you have to share. KEEP YOUR TORRENTS OPEN. I always make sure that I have at least shared half the amount of MB/GB that the file I donwloaded.......

How can I stop BitTorrent from uploading?
Some clients allow you to adjust the rate at which data is being uploaded to other clients. However there's little point in doing this, since other BitTorrent clients determine the amount of data you receive by the rate you upload at. If you don't upload at all, your transfers will slow down to a crawl.

i agree with both mindlifter and bmacd ..

however the only reason i would use the experimaental version is if i would want to do something else than just use bittorrent to download. eg i want to do my ebanking smoothly or browse ebay for a while... so you still have bandwidth to play with..

if i am just downloading, (leaving the house for a couple of days for instance) i just stick with the original version.. it is the fastest! even faster than shadows!
