A few years back America and American banks though it would be a good idea to allows installation of private ATM machines. This would increase the amount of ATM machines available etc.

A private ATM is basically a normal ATM but you pay a fee between $1.00 - $2.00 for using it. The money in the machine is from a private company or individual who is reimbursed by a real bank. Because of this you will find ATMs in the most odd places which is a great thing if you need cash and there is no bank nrea buy.

BUT!!!

Anyone can start in this business. All you need is $3000 for the machine. And this is exactly what scam artists are doing. They buy and install ATM machines, get them linked to a bank which doesn’t require any background checks or anything. People use them, get their money but have no idea that their cards are being read and their pin is being stolen by a modified machine. A week later you bank account is empty!

WTF, I’m only getting my cash from an ATM of a big bank from now on.
