Man's Death in Fight With Cincinnati Cops Probed

CINCINNATI — A 350-pound black man died after being clubbed repeatedly by officers in a videotaped beating that raised new allegations of police brutality against blacks in Cincinnati nearly three years after the city was rocked by riots. The sick thing is everywhere here on TV there are cops saying that this was a “Picture Perfect Arrest”. WTF since when is beating a guy to death picture perfect. That is sick. Ok the guy took a swing at one of the cops but why? There is like 1:30 missing from the tape and didn’t they find the guy passed out outside a store? What is he going to do if you leave him there? Run away, the guy was 350 lbs. !! You don't pocke people with your night stick, That is like hitting someone with a hammer! This is like the time they shot that black kid a hundred times in the back and he was unarmed. Same city. Take a look at the cop mug shots; they look like Neo-Nazis with their shaved heads. We have some of those around here where I live and they are the worst. -Stefan ... Link

I'm sorry,
but I disagree with this view completely. Don't get me wrong, I am all in favour of getting rid of all unjustified police brutality, racsist or otherwise. From what I can see by the video, the big guy was not passed out when he was charging the police officer, nor was he passed out when they managed to tackle him to the ground. Because of the angle of the video camera, you cannot see what this guy was doing on the ground while they were trying to cuff him, he could've been doing anything. Bear in mind that the cops had no idea if he was carrying a concealed weapon, gun or otherwise, and so have to make sure that he is unable to pull a weapon on them if he does have one. I think the violence in this case was justified and although it's a tragic shame that the guy died afterwards, I do not think the police are to blame. It's getting to the state where the police cannot take any action without fear of a reprisal. They have to wait until one of their own is injured/killed before being able to violently stop a criminal? That's insane. And don't even get me started on the racist aspect of this case. I can't believe they would've acted any differently if the fat guy had been white. It just so happens that the guy was black and suddenly everyone is up in arms about racism in cinncinati! ... Link

I think the violence was just... If he would just have done what the officers told him " Put your hands behind your back" he wouldn't have gotten a beating. Black/white/Marsian screw it. I pay people to protect me. ... Link

The fact that the fat guy started the first altercation by charging at the policeman saying "Redneck White Boy" doesn't really help his case for rascism much... ... Link ... Comment |
