Just test driving. There's no way I'm trading my GTI for a Daewoo! Just wondered what you all though about the Daewoos... The Evanda is their biggest and most expensive (29k) so I'm taking that out this afternoon for a spin. The others are all a bit shitty, but the Nubira looks best... ... Link

Well...
I took the Evanda out for a spin. Disappointing, but to be honest that's nothing less than I expected. A 2lt engine in a car that size is just not enough, acceleration is terrible unless you floor it for the less than responsive kick-down, at which point the engine sounds more like your radiator belt has got hold of the neck of a cat and is making sure it looks more like a giraffe by the time the car reaches any sort of decent speed. Having said that, for the price it's a good size with all the standard extras you'd expect (leather seats, CD changer, A/C, etc). I can imagine older people who want a decent size car for a family being interested in it... Next up: Nubira ... Link

Nubira:
Daewoo's newest entry to the market. Not great, but better than the Evanda and at 25k, a bit cheaper. The car's smaller, but only has a 1.8lt engine so the same sort of problems exist... Having said that, it feels nicer to drive and I felt a lot safer and more reassured in it than in the Evanda. Interior design was tacky, but what do you expect from the Koreans? ... Link ...
