That's the third time I've seen that in the last two days. It's quite impressive how viral things get sometimes... It's also a complete load of dog shit (excuse my french) as it's got fuck all to do with the first and last letters, more with the distinguishing letters being in the word (not necessarily the right place). We scan over information very quickly, and our brains process in such a way that we see the first letter of a word, and instantly have a list of possible candidates that that word could be. We then scan the word looking for 'distinguishing' letters which further narrows the list of possible words it could be. We then make an educated assumption as to what the word is, with an average accuracy of about 99%. In conclusion, it is therefore not the first and last letters, but rather the combination of letters that allows our pattern recognition to correctly interpret what is written, correctly spelled or not. If I had the time and inclination, I would adapt the above passage to prove my point. Maybe tomorrow... ... Link ... Comment |
