i read about that weeks ago... suprised bbc only picked it up today
really good idea. well done radiohead. setup website, = $0 announce it to the press = $0 distribution cost per album = ~$0 record and produce album = $?? depending on what you are after.. i am sure radiohead has his [their] own studio and knows what he's doing by now. ... Link

yupp, saw that too. excellent idea.. it's not that hard to come up with a couple of clever and working marketing ideas -> record companies, wake the fcuk up.. you can also get the arty super-centerfold double flipside vinyl bonus track japanese-my-ass version, which is pretty pricey.. but sure it's a piece of art. ... talking about new ways:
http://www.liveherenow.co.uk/ Live Here Now was established in 2004 to produce and sell live concert recordings within minutes of an event finishing. The project is run by a team of industry professionals who combine many years of experience. Using the best techniques and equipment available, we believe passionately in the quality of the recordings and packaging we produce. This is not a typical live album, and it's not a bootleg - think of it as something in between - a unique and official souvenir to remind you how amazing live music is. ... Link

oh, come on..
split: Liveherenow <-> Artist ..i guess. - limited edition it's the closest thing to support your artist and cutting out the record companies. oher than merchandising. which, btw, you can also do with your very own resources.. ... Link

it shouldn't be
more than going to the show itself.. and since they are cutting out all the BS inbetween they should be able to sell it for a more affordable price.. and you can't argue the £10 download.. seriously.. should be half of that, even if the artist gets 50%. (do they really???) oh and jami / oasis are thinking of doing a radiohead.. for me a live recording usually in a lower class than a studio album. there are a few cases where live really is better, oh wait, uffie. no. yes i am happy there is an option of storing a great concert for ever.. but for £12 give me a professional dvd of the concert.. with the sound recorded off the soundboard. either way.. even if i don't like it' i will be falling for it when partyshank is covered.. that's right i am talkin' about practice.. ... i agree
with the download, that's proper BS.. but: you go to a concert of your favorite band - like uffie -, you really enjoyed it, the played all the awesome songs, the crowd went crazycrazycrazy, you want a souvenir other than the ticket stub or an ugly ill fitting tee - you go buy the nicely packaged live recording while leaving the club.. i would. and you would - at plastic.. i think it's more that sort of a fan-thingy.. ...
