Spent watching the National Geographic channel and learnt the following, which I will share with you: 1. There is a unique earthquake hotspot between St.Louis and Memphis (unique because it is in the centre of a plate, not at the edge) which is highly likely to trigger an earthquake within the next 50 years which will largely destroy both cities. The last time, in 1812, a large area of land collapsed and created a new lake where there used to be a village. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Madrid_Fault_Zone 2. the Vikings landed in Newfoundland and probably Nova Scotia but were overpowered by the Indians and had to return home. I also saw a fascinating programme about child slavery on Lake Volta in Ghana, pretty grim but fascinating images. This adds to my argument that being a couch potato is not all bad. The cats, especially, were grateful for the afternoon spent sleeping on my legs, this in turn was my excuse for not moving. ... Comment |
