A court in the canton of Aarau has condemned a female driver to a 12-month suspended sentence for manslaughter. The 32-year-old nurse was pretty drunk and was driving home late one evening back in December 2004 when she drove over a drunken man that had fallen asleep in the middle of the street. The driver claims that she only saw ’something black lying in the road,’ drove over it, and then cruised another 1.1 km home. The 32-year-old says she felt something was wrong with her car, but nevertheless went to bed.

Later that night, the nurse felt pangs of doubt and got redressed to see what had hampered her vehicle. Sure enough, when she got down behind her car in her driveway, there was the dead body of a 52-year-old man. Authorities believe that the victim was immediately killed when the car first ran him over.
