The company that is tracking IP's in Switzerland is called Logistep .... They claim to monitor The following applications FTP P2P So this means they are not tracking my activities since i'm using µtorrent :-) F'ing idiots, they just wanted to make a list, if they would just have said Bit Torrent, the list wouldn't have been so nice... and what does BT have to do with FTP? http://www.logistepag.com/p2pftp.htm ... Yeah but check out the protocols link off the same page and it just says - BitTorrent. Therefore (theoretically) any apps using the BT protocol are going to be tracked... I want more detail though. I want to know what and how they're tracking and exactly what information they're logging. I'm sure there's got to be some invasion of privacy issues here... ... Link

let's say i am downloading off a t0rrent file from a tight knit community such as neuf-neuf, how would they see this, unless ofcourse they are members?? and if I am running peergu4rdian, isn't this blocking them from seeing me aswell? unless ofcourse they use standard cc connections and regular means of connecting to the net.. (i.e. no fixed ips) the only way they'd see me off neuf-neuf is either by being members and latching on to that very same t0rrent (at the same TIME as me), or working together with cablecom. in sweden they have realized that the way forward isn't to put regular people behind bars (although antipiratbyr4n who are paid to do this are still doing it.. ) , but to think of ideas on how to offer their materials for release over internet, and in time aswell.. itunes video shop seems to be working fairly well for instance.. another big question is if cc will pass the infomation behind the IP to log1step.. (?) that thing with FTP / P2P differentiation makes absolutely NO SENSE:. it's all feckin P2P--- basically 3 different methods with various spinoffs.. : -gnutella ... Link

Hmmm, it's all interesting stuff. Personally I would argue that they need to provide information on the exact methods used in order to prove they are not invading (innocent) peoples privacy. Of course they will not want to do that because as soon as it is clear how they are tracking, someone will work their way around it. It's a catch-22 which hopefully they cannot win (at least not here). I can't help but think that the people capable of providing IP info from most provider companies are not particularly inclined to be helpful towards the 'law enforcement', mainly because they are using all these systems quite happily too! Which brings me to this: ... Link
