F'ing Ferguson

do not like friendly internationals. England have one this month and you can bet that Chelsea and Arsenal will be pulling their players out.

"And if I have the injury problems I have at the moment, I will be too."

Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Kieran Richardson and Alan Smith are all expected to be in Sven-Goran Eriksson's squad for the match in Geneva on Saturday 12 November

I hope none of the teams pull their players from the game...

It would be a shame to watch an England B side play the Argies...

I was ready yesterday that they are expecting 6k+ british fans from the UK

....

The ’friendly’ football match between England and Argentina is due next Saturday at Geneva’s LaPraille Stadium. Local police are gearing up for a massive influx of British fans. At least 6,000, by some accounts. Geneva’s boys in blue have called in colleagues from across French-speaking Switzerland because of the notorious reputation of British spectators. Patrick Gunder, in charge of the police’s preparation for the event, explains his forces will be collaborating closely with Scotland Yard to identify troublemakers. Local authorities see this as a test run for the Euro 2008 Championships that will be held in Austria and Switzerland. (Justin Veuthey)

geneva will probably look like a warzone before, during and after the game... I remember when England played against Liechtenstein two years ago. Zurich was destroyed, but at least the YUGOS shot 3 hooligans and defend nice little Zurich. :)

Yes, good point mguru.

The fact that the violence when England played Liechtenstein was primarily caused by non-English fans may have escaped your notice however...

The English fans get a lot of bad press but in reality are no worse than the majority of other country's national fans. Just because of the reputation a lot of people choose to provoke and irritate those fans that do attend games, only making things worse...

I suspect that Geneva will be no worse off than Hardplatz after Grasshoppers pop over the bridge to play FCZ on a quiet Sunday night...

good point BmacD ... I think people automaticly think that the Brits fancy a bit of a fight and push the brits to a point where any one would snap... I think it's going to be one hell of a party ...

BmacD when are you coming down? TT and SwissChick are coming from Paris on Friday, they are staying at TT's place.

Nothing set in concrete yet

most likely going to come down Friday evening. Stay at my Dad's Friday night and head into town on Saturday whenever's best. Likely go with my Dad and brother since they've also got tickets and then catch up with you lot either outside the stadium or in the nearest pub. My thoughts were then to go out on the lash after the game (assuming we're not arrested). Everything after that is likely to be a blur...

Depending on how hammered I get I might well ask nicely if I can crash on your floor ;o) Or maybe head out to my Dad's or even decorate MM69s new pad in a quite revolting, yet strangely familiar coating of bile (plus a fair amount of alcohol)...

FYI - I'll be wearing my En-ger-lund top (but might take a change of clothes to prevent me having to stay the night courtesy of the Swiss government in the event things go a little Pete Tong)...

Looking forward to it!

OK, but you still need a ticket right?

This was my idea as well... I thought we would meet up before the game somewhere, and then after the game for on the lash and watch the Switzerland/Turkey game... your more than welcome to kip at mine...you know it's going to get messy :-)

People coming so far

regarding ENGLAND-Liechtenstein I happened to live in Niederdorf and saw what was going on.... sorry to say but the hooligans from England deserved more than just 3 guys getting shot.a fact, friends of mine happened to film what was happening as well in Niederdorf so don´t tell me any bullshit about british fans behaving well during that event. The statement that all is to blame non-English fans is just a joke. I saw what was going on!!

Snoo, yep, most definitely still need the ticket so don't go giving it away! ;o)

Will be in touch Friday or Saturday to arrange times etc.

Mguru, you got that vid anywhere, would love to see it... I was also in the Niederdorf but admittedly was seeing double at the time... If I remember it was more stabbing than shooting anyway, not that that makes it any better.
