It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of the Mighty Suprnova.org.
In a message on the website the administration posted the following:

Greetings everybody,

As you have probably noticed, we have often had downtimes. This was because it was so hard to keep this site up!
But now we are sorry to inform you all, that SuprNova is closing down for good in the way that we all know it.
We do not know if SuprNova is going to return, but it is certainly not going to be hosting any more torrent links.
We are very sorry for this, but there was no other way, we have tried everything.

Thank you all that helped us, by donating mirrors or something else, by uploading and seeding files, by helping people out on IRC and on forum, by spreading the word about SuprNova.org.
It is a sad day for all of us!

Please visit SuprNova.org every once in a while to get the latest news on what is happening and if there is anything new to report on.

As we wish to maintain the nice comunity that we created, we are keeping forums and irc servers open.

Thank you all and Goodbye!
sloncek & the rest of the SuprNova Team"

From the early days of BT Suprnova was one of the best known and visited sites on the net for torrent links
While thier initial start up was basic torrents, that soon expanded with the aqusition of Novasearch
(later Search Suprnova) and the later addition of a Mobile Section and a fledgling Mac Section.
They are the most recent torrent site to shut down as of late.

This following a turbulent week for torrent indexes that have shut down due to the MPAA, who have made no secret of thier plans to kill off the BT client and it's host of torrent indexes.
This has made it a difficult week for BT and Edonkey.
While there are still some torrent sites left I am sorry to say kids that the death of this generation of P2P is now imminent.

While sad, it will, just like after the fall of napster spur innovation and bring in the new breed of peer to peer file sharing.

So please won't you all join me in thanking Sloncek and his team for thier work and dedication on one of the best torrent sites on the net.
We shall miss you.

A Toast for Suprnova!
