blu ray taking the lead?

Plextor will ship its first Blu-ray Disc drive in September, the storage specialist has said. The PX-B900A is an internal unit for PCs and will support both single- and dual-layer recordable and rewriteable media.

The drive connects to the host across via an ATAPI link. Like other BD recorders, it operates as 2x speed, writing to both BD-R and BD-RE discs of either 25GB or 50GB capacity. It will also write to DVD-RAM and DVD±R/RW media - both single- and dual-layer versions - and to CD-R/RW.

The PX-B900A will be available from September/October 2006, Plextor said. Pricing has yet to be set. ®

i would wait at least 9 months from release to even consider buying it. These babies will go for 400-500chf bucks in the beginning.. i can feel it.. and how much will the discs be? ouch.. probably one of the best ways to archive you divX collection ;-)

Darknet

The perhaps most widely used darknet software is Nullsoft's WASTE. The developers of Freenet have stated that they are working on a new version that will be a darknet, which unlike typical Darknets, will be capable of supporting potentially millions of users using an application of small world theory.

WASTE behaves similarly to a virtual private network by connecting to a group of trusted computers, as determined by the users, however this kind of network is commonly referred to as a darknet. It employs heavy encryption to ensure that third parties cannot decipher the messages being transferred. The same encryption is used to transmit and receive instant messages, chat, and files, maintain the connection, and browse and search. There is also an optional "Saturate" feature which adds random traffic, making traffic analysis more difficult. The nodes (each a trusted connection) automatically determine the lowest latency route for traffic and, in doing so, load balance. This also improves privacy, because packets often take different routes.
