A pan-European project has shown that people driving in Switzerland are not always very sober. The European Traffic Police Network says that 5,699 drivers were tested in this country between the 12th and the 18th of December and that the number of people behind the wheel who had had too much to drink was 3.35%, more than twice the European average of 1.33%. That said, the Swiss are not the drunk driving champions, surpassed for that disgraceful title by drivers in Moldavia, where officials found that one in every eleven drivers was drunk. In so far as drugs are concerned, Switzerland again showed its dark side. Indeed, the European average was of 0.3% whereas 2.3% percent of Swiss drivers were high.
