John Peel Day - October 13th

The very first John Peel Day will take place on Thursday October 13th.

The day will be a celebration of John's life and massive contribution to music and broadcasting with as many venues as possible staging gigs across the UK under the banner of Peel Day.

Radio 1 are putting on a special gig at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London on Wednesday 12th October. It's the night before the massive John Peel Day happening across the country and around the world on Thursday 13th October.

Artists confirmed to play so far are:
New Order
Super Furry Animals
The Fall
Laura Cantrell
Misty in Roots
Venetian Snares
Jawbone

More will be announced soon. Radio 1 are recording the night and will be broadcasting highlights the next day.

Astrodome: Within two minutes of AFP photographer Stanly Honda electronically publishing a photo of Katrina victim Latesha Vinette holding up her Red Cross debit card, Ms. Vinette was paged by the management of Reliant stadium to receive a call from Mastercard asking about cash advances totally $65,237, the attempted purchase of a Ferrari automobile using her card #, along with hundreds of purchases from eBay, including, ironically, camping gear.

Austin City Limits

I saw these geezers for the 9th time this weekend. Highlights of the weekend were The Bravery, Kasabian, Built to Spill, and Coldplay..

also saw three people having seizures from the heat... I may be getting too old for these death festivals...
