LAS VEGAS – Trotz mehr als doppelter Masse blieb Goliath gegen David chancenlos. Ex-Sumo-Ringer Akebono bezog gegen Roufus erneut Prügel.

Chad Rowan (36) alias Akebono war eine Legende – aber nur als Sumo-Ringer. Im März 1993 wurde er zum 64. Yokozuna in der Geschichte erhoben, dem höchsten Rang, der zu vergeben ist. Und 1996 wurde der Hawaiianer sogar in Japan eingebürgert.
Dann kam vor drei Jahren das Karrierenende: 233 Kilo Lebendgewicht zwangen den Fleischberg in die Knie und hinterliessen an diesen ihre Spuren.

Darauf der Wechsel: Der 2,03-Meter-Mann wechselt in den K1 und debütiert dort am 31. Dezember des letzten Jahres – mit einer Niederlage.

Und so gings weiter – im gleichen Trott. Am Samstag verlor Akebono zum 4. Mal. Diesmal gegen den im Vergleich zwergenhaften Ami Rick Roufus, 1,80 m gross und bloss 92 kg schwer.
